Understanding ColiGo's secure handover codes
Two codes, two confirmed handovers: how the system that secures every ColiGo shipment works.
Updated September 2, 2026 · 2 min read
Every ColiGo shipment goes through two in-person handovers: the sender gives the package to the traveller, then the traveller gives it to the recipient. A unique code confirms each of these two steps.
The first code — at pickup
As soon as a sender accepts a traveller's offer, a first code is generated. The traveller enters it in the app the moment they physically take the package, confirming that the initial handover took place.
The second code — at final delivery
At the destination, a second code — different from the first — is generated for the final handover. The recipient gives it to the traveller, who enters it in the app to confirm that the right package reached the right person.
Why two separate codes
Separating the two handovers prevents mix-ups over the package or the recipient and leaves a clear record of each step, for both the sender and the traveller.
Good habits
- Never share your code as a screenshot with someone you haven't identified.
- Check the other person's profile, photo and reviews before exchanging the code in person.
- Use the in-app messaging to agree on the place and time of the handover.
If the code doesn't work
First check that you're with the right person and the right package. If the problem continues, contact the other party through the app's messaging, then ColiGo support if needed.
